Dance Off/Sing off Talent Competition Sponsored by The Sherwood State Bank Relay for Life Team.  June 10th, 2:00 p.m. at the Latin American Club.  Stop in the Office for a flyer with all the details.

Scavenger Hunt throughout the town of Defiance, June 1st 10:00-5:00(or anytime in between) Starts at Sherwood State Bank.  Three top prizes- Kindle Fire, iPod Nano, and Dual Portable DVD player will be awarded to first, tenth, and twentieth completed bags turned in.  Stop in the office for a flyer with all the details.

Drivers Ed- Any one interested in Summer Driver’s Edplease stop in the office to sign up and get the informational packet.  The class is May 25th-June 1st.  This will not interfere with Summer School.

Boy's basketball open gym will be May 8, 10, 13, 15, 20, 22, 29, and 31 from 7-9pm in the big gym.

Bloomfields Hair Cut Company will be shaving heads to help Conquer Kids’ Cancer.  ( They could still use a few more volunteers)  This years event is in memory of Tiana Bishop.  There are also 3 honorary Cancer Survivors from the area:  Ali Cheek –Tinora; Hailey Bok- Ayersville 2nd Grade; and J.T. Nusbaum –Fairview.  Come out to the Lilac Festival, Saturday May 12th 10:30-3:30 and help a great cause.

Anyone interested in playing football next year, there will be an informational meeting Thursday May 3rd during activity period in the gym.  Calendars, Spirit Pack and other information will be given out. 

Sports Physicalsfor students in grades 6-11 will be held on Wednesday, May 9th at Ayersville, by Defiance Clinic staff.  The cost is $20.00 which must be prepaid (cash or check made payable to Ayersville Athletic Department) Forms are now available in HS, JH or Athletic Offices.  Completed forms & money are due by Fri., May 4th.  Late registrations will be taken last on physical day.  If you plan on participating in a school sport next year you will need a physical on file prior to your 1st official day of practice.

Summer School reminder- If you are interested in summer school, please get your form and payment in ASAP.  The morning and afternoon Phys Ed classes are now full, but we still have a few opening in Speech and Health.

Moser Nursing Scholarship:  Applicants must be planning to pursue a career in nursing, either as a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse, demonstrate financial need (the primary basis for consideration for this award), and already be accepted into a nursing program at the school of the applicant’s choice.  Applications are available from the guidance office and all materials must be received by May 11th.   

Music Boosters Membership drive-is now through May 31.  Cost is $15.00 for the year.  Mail payment to Tiffanie Raike - 2014 Ayersville Ave.  Defiance, OH  43512.  In order for the class of 2012-13 to be eligible for Ayersville Music Boosters Scholarship, your membership must be paid on time.

The GMC has started a new website.  The conference gets a kickback for the use of this site. The more people that use the site the more we get.  If you could log into the site at least once a month it would help the conference and us as it is used to purchase awards and so forth for conference events.  The url for the site is www.ihigh.com/gmc thanks in advance.

The following scholarships or opportunities are available either through the guidance office or by getting an online application:

Ohio Business Week Programs:  If you are planning a career in business, then this program could be for you.  It is open to any student grades 9 through 12.  Early bird discount ends February 19.  Applications are due April 30 for the week at Youngstown State University (June 24-30) or Ohio Dominican University (July 8-14).  A minimum GPA of 2.5 is required, along with no discipline history and to be either involved in extracurricular or community activities.  

Northwest State’s Choose Ohio First Scholarship:  This scholarship is divided into two separate awards.
